It is the culmination of the endeavours of all 36 States and Union Territories, who are the key stakeholders in achieving the SDGs. SDGs are not only key to measuring progress on the global goals till 2030, but also an important barometer to measure progress towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. The SDG India Index has emerged as a powerful tool to help assess the country's progress towards the SDGs, offering a comparative analysis across the States and Union Territories. It has spurred discussions on gaps and challenges and generated momentum to focus on the Global Goals. This report, which takes stock of national and subnational progress towards achieving the SDGs through a data-centric and evidence-based approach, is amongst the first steps in a new series of efforts by India in spearheading SDG acceleration globally. With less than seven years to 2030, the world is increasingly looking to India’s leadership in developing and deploying innovative solutions both at home and at sufficient scale to move global targets, including through South-South Cooperation.
